It is in the style of ex-votos from San Francisco del Rincon, Guanajuato. The prayer says (with errors): En esta villa en el mes de Junio de 44, Viendoce el Sr. Domingo Mena gravemente enfermo de un tuberculosis en el pulmon, Causandole vomitos de material y no encontrando remedio humanamente, su esposa Guadalupe y su cuñada Maria ocurrieron a la protección del Señor de la columna, pidiendole se dignara restaurarle la salud y que no volvieran los hecsesos [accessos ?]. El Señor escuchó su petición, y de la enfermedad quedó sano y dedican el presente en prueba de su milagro. (In this town during the month of June, 1944, Señor Domingo Mena was gravely ill with tuberculosis of the lung, causing him to vomit material. Not finding any human remedy, his wife Guadalupe and his sister-in-law Maria ran to the protection of Our Lord of the Column, seeking from Him that he might deign to restore his health and that the attacks might not return. The Lord heard their petition, and from his sickness he was cured. They dedicate the present [retablo] in proof of His miracle.) |
