An exhibition at the Tarble Arts Center (Brainard Gallery)
Eastern Illinois University, Charleston, Illinois
March 10 through May 27, 2012

For centuries, the artists of India's vibrant folk traditions have, in many media, expressed both the profundity of India's religious traditions and its joyful celebration of the present world. This exhibition highlights folk painting traditions in three states in northeast India. These traditions have retained customary functions while acquiring new functions in their creative adaptation to the contemporary world.
